Rare Camouflage and Surplus for Sale
Some camo sets barely made it out into the surplus world, which is exactly why collectors, me included, chase them. Dutch NFP Navy has that sharp fractal look with dark naval tones, Irish DPM is nearly impossible to find thanks to strict controls, and Luxembourg’s M2011 desert shows up so rarely it’s like spotting a ghost. Then you’ve got a bit more obscure and unknown patterns, like Yugoslav green tigerstripe that never made it mainstream but I might like them even more than the famous camo patterns that everyone is talking about.
How Do I Source Rare Camo?
Honestly, there are many ways to get it, but sometimes I just get lucky and spot a holy grail out of nowhere when traveling or buying online. Most of the items are procured locally in their respective country or region, with the discontinued or old ones being hardest to find due to limited quantities. Yes, I am talking about you all Ex-Yu surplus items! Anyways, I really like collecting it and finding even more of them for the store, it is sure an adventure.
Why Rare Camouflage Is Worth Collecting
Well, it depends…some of us are camo collectors, some use items for airsoft, tactical training or hiking. Others just love history and want to own a piece that tells a story. Personally, I like to use most of my items instead of just having them hanging somewhere in a closet. And since I started this hobby and later this side project, I have learned so much about different countries, regions and their armies.
Rare Navy and Desert Patterns
Navy and desert patterns often end up being some of the rarest surplus because they were made in smaller batches and issued only to specific units or deployments. The Dutch NFP Navy was produced for maritime forces, meaning far fewer sets exist compared to the standard green variant. The Irish DPM Navy is even harder to track down, not just due to restrictions, but also due to low number of Navy members. Desert patterns like the Polish Wz.93 Pustynna were created mainly for missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, so production runs were limited, even if they aren’t super rare like the abovementioned patterns. Even though you probably can’t use navy patterns effectively for any activity, I for sure like to collect some of the coolest ones.
